Michael J. Rouhani received his Doctorate of Jurisprudence in 1992 from Golden Gate University School of Law in San Francisco, where he also earned a Certificate of Specialization in International Law. He was admitted to the California Bar in 1992.

He is a graduate of the prestigious Institute of Political Studies of Paris, France. He holds four law degrees (D.E.U.G., Licence, Maitrise, and D.E.A.) from the University of Paris Law School. He received training at the Hague Academy of International Law in the Netherlands.  

In addition to the California Supreme Court, he is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, and the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. He is accredited by the French Consulate General in San Francisco.
